Artwork by Ian Nolan
My work stems from a fascination with the little things and how a slight
alteration or change to those little things which we come to take for granted can completely reinvent them for us, making them fresh and new once again. The work usually takes place somewhere between the darkest alley in Dublin city and the sneakiest corner of an old forest nearby my house. I want people who encounter these pieces to remember the moment and thrill of that encounter and to remember what it is like to feel that sense of fascination and curiosity which we felt growing up as children, that time and place where the world seems fresh, new and exciting once again.
Ian Nolan is a recent graduate of the National College of Art and Design and is this years winner of the RDS Student Art Awards Model Niland Residency Award. He has exhibitted as part of the RDS Student Art Exhibition, which will be travelling to Newbridge, County Kildare this September and he has also exhibited as part of Heritage Week in St. Mary’s Abbey, just off Capel Street as part of a group show with the creative arts group, ArtHouse, of which he is a co-founder. He hopes to continue building upon his career as a visual artist and would like to thank Cornucopia for this opportunity to display his
photographic work. He hopes that the staff and customers like it!
